ABSTRACT
@EN Pheochromocytoma is originated from chromaffin cells of sympathetic nervous system and clinical symptoms are caused by catecholamine released from tumor. The clinical features of the pheochromocytoma are variable. Firstly, in typical cases,
periodic
attack of hypertension, palpitation, headache, sweating are main symptoms. Secondly, the complications of the pheochromocytoma are main problems in some clinical situations and thirdly, coexisting diseases are main problems in some other
patients,
such
as thyroid medullary cancer, hyperparathyroidism, neurofibromatosis and etc. Fourthly, the clinical symptoms of pheochromocytoma caused by mass effect of the tumor or near organ metastasis and finally, there are no symptoms in some cases. Except
typical
cases, it is not easy to diagnose. Recently, we experienced 4 unusual cases of pheochromocytoma, so we reported the cases with literature review (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 8:356~362, 1993).
